FAQ
What is an FFL?
An "FFL" is a Federal Firearm License. There are currently over 58,000 FFL holders nationwide. FFL holders are commonly gun stores, pawn shops, and retail sporting goods stores. However, there are also many individuals that hold a FFL. All firearms sold to individuals online must be shipped to a local FFL holder, who will then transfer the firearm (via ATF form 4473 and associated background check) to the individual.
What is the average FFL transfer fee?
Although the transfer fee varies widely among the +58,000 FFL holders nationwide, the average fee tends to be around $25. For their exact transfer fee, please contact your chosen FFL directly. Here, at Freedom’s Militia Gun Shop, LLC., our transfer fee is $15.00.
I just received my new gun. It looks used, as if it's been fired. What's up?
Many new firearms are test fired at the factory. You may notice residual powder, rotation marks on revolver cylinders, residual Cosmoline (which sometimes appears to look like rust), etc. All firearms sold as "new" are, in fact, new in box as received from the manufacturer or distributor. Each one includes a new manufacturer’s warranty....no exceptions. Any used, factory refurbished, refurbished pre-owned, or guns in any other condition than new in box will be clearly marked as such on our website.
Can I order an item over the phone?
Yes. You can place an order over the phone by calling (336)-972-3944 or (336)-466-5123 during posted hours.
Is my information kept private?
Absolutely! All personal information provided to Freedom’s Militia Gun Shop, LLC. is kept private and is never provided to third parties.
Aren’t all these rules unconstitutional according to the 2nd amendment?
Yes. The 2nd amendment, as commonly accepted by most constitutional scholars, means just what it says. It clearly states that your right to own a firearm is not to be infringed. Every law Congress passes restricting firearms is just that – an infringement.
How do I know if I’m complying with my local and state laws?
It is up to each INDIVIDUAL to ensure your purchase will not violate your local or state laws. For accurate and current information, consult any applicable local/state ordinances, your state Attorney General's office, or a qualified attorney.

What document(s) do I need to present when purchasing a firearm in store?
Your valid state driver’s license is required. North Carolina’s new law allows handgun purchases without a pistol permit. We will still have to complete a NICS background check before transferring the firearm. State driver’s license cannot be expired and address must match address written on ATF form 4473.
I have just moved to North Carolina from another state, and I brought my gun(s) with me. Do I need to get an ownership permit?
No permit or other legal document is necessary to legally possess a rifle, shotgun or handgun in North Carolina as long as the firearm is not capable of fully automatic fire.
May I lawfully transfer a firearm to a resident of the same state in which I reside?
Any person may sell a firearm to an unlicensed resident of the state where he resides as long as he does not know or have reasonable cause to believe the person is prohibited from receiving or possessing firearms under federal law. There may be state laws that regulate intrastate firearm transactions. Any person considering acquiring a firearm should contact his or her State Attorney General’s Office to inquire about the laws and possible state or local restrictions. A list of State Attorney General contact numbers may be found at naag.org
How do I arrange to have a local FFL handle my transfer?
We can add your preferred local FFL to our list by simply having them email or text us a copy of their FFL. Please communicate with your chosen FFL prior to completing your purchase with us. You will want to ask for their approval of the transfer and discuss their transfer fee.
Can you ship my firearm directly to my home or office?
No, all firearms must be shipped to a verified FFL (Federal Firearm License) holder.
Do you accept paypal?
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept PayPal. PayPal refuses to process payments for firearms or ammunition. Per their website, "We don’t allow PayPal members to buy or sell any kind of firearm, whether it’s in working order or not. The same goes for certain firearm parts and ammunition.
For example, using PayPal, you can’t buy or sell:
Any firearm, including rifles, shotguns, and handguns, whether they’re for sport and recreation, collectibles, or curio or relic firearms.
Firearm parts, including but not limited to receivers and frames, silencers, and kits designed to modify guns so that they fire automatically. High capacity magazines, multi-burst trigger activators, and camouflaging firearm containers are other items in this category. Ammunition, including propellants like gunpowder or blank ammunition; ammunition or cartridge cases; and primers, bullets, or propellant powder designed for any firearm."
What form(s) of payment do you accept?
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, or AMEX. We would love to be able to accept PayPal and Apple Pay but those companies' policies do not allow for purchases involving firearms, ammunition and certain firearms accessories. Because of that, we are restricted from offering those two payment options. Hopefully, the policies at those companies will change in the future.
How do I clean my gun if I shoot corrosive ammo?
You will want to clean your gun well after each time you use corrosive ammo, preferably the same day. Methods vary, some use gun cleaning solvent, some use soapy water, and some use Windex (ammonia helps neutralize the salts). The key is to clean it as soon as possible after the use of corrosive ammo.
